THE NEST
& BIRD BLIND
Surrounded by several hundred acres of forest and fieldand sitting high atop a bluff,
this location has the most spectacular view of Puget Sound, Mount Rainier and the Cascade
Mountains of any place on Vashon Island. A leisurely walk through the countryside gets you
to the shore below where you will find a beach, a dock, and a turn of the century
lighthouse to explore.

Behind the cottages, nestled amongst the Plum trees, there is a HOT TUB in a deck
where you can soothe away your stress! This is a quiet place. It is an older homestead
with mature fruit orchards and gardens, yet still blessed with glimpses of nature--Does
and their Fawns, Eagles and Owls, baby Swallows stretching their wings for the first time. |

A complete one bedroom cottage of about 250 squarefeet. It has often been described as
a little doll house. The front porch has a swing with a view of Puget Sound and Mount
Rainier. As you open the front door, you enter an all purpose room that functions as a
living room, dining room and kitchenette. It is furnished with a table and a couple of
chairs, a rocking chair on an Oriental throw rug on a hardwood floor, and has a complete
little kitchen with stove, sink and refrigerator along one wall. From the rocking chair
you can see sunrise over the Cascade Mountains through lavender Rhododendrons. The bedroom
has a queen bed with just enough room to get around it, a color television, and a view of
moonrise over the Cascades and Puget Sound. Outside the bathroom window are Plum trees
which flower in the Spring. |

This studio cottage is an expansive room with a pine ceiling and a
large picture window overlooking the orchard, pasture and woods. It's furnished with a
Queen size bed, color TV/VCR, arm chair, and a table with two captains chairs. The
kitchenette, equipped with toaster
oven, microwave oven, hot plate, Mr. Coffee and refrigerator, allows for light cooking.
The private bath is cedar paneled and has a shower over a tub.
A guest who stayed in this cottage with his binoculars and birding
manuals commented, "This has to be the most comfortable bird blind I've ever been in.
The activity in the field outside is absolutely delightful!" And so it is. Another
guest reported seeing 49 species in a week's time. Perhaps you will see Pheasants, Hawks,
Gold Finches, Barn Swallows, Pileated Woodpeckers, or Hummingbirds.
